T Carter Music is happy to answer any or all questions regarding music licensing. Please view the FAQ section below for answers to common licensing questions. If you do not see an answer to your particular question, feel free to send your question to T Carter Music via the
form. We will try to answer your question personally and as quickly as possible. Thank you for interest in T Carter Music licensing.
Do I need a license if your music is "naturally" captured in the background of our video?
No. Using T Carter Music for your ceremony or reception is what we are here for. It's only natural that the video "naturally" capture
the music that is played. This is OK.
We ask that you purchase a license if:
- our music is inserted into a pre or post wedding video or slideshow created by you or your videographer.
- our music is edited or mixed by you or your videographer and not
"naturally" captured at the ceremony.
- you plan to share your video which features our music on social network sites such as YouTube or Facebook.
What is the purpose of the license?
The media license allows you to legally use T Carter Music in "other" media formats outside of being "naturally" captured at the event. This includes video and slideshow presentations created or edited by you or your wedding videographer.
It's a copyright violation for anyone to use ANY artists work in this manner without consent from the artist or label and compensation for the usage upgrade. This license protects both parties. That is why we offer two simple and inexpensive licensing agreements to accommodate the one-time user as well as professional videographers who choose to use our music for their personal business.
Bride and Groom License (one-time use): $5.99 per song agreement. Song sold separately.
Professional Use License (unlimited use, 1 year): $19.99 per song agreement. Mp3 download is included with this purchase.
Note: "Naturally" capturing the song in your wedding video simply means that it's playing in the background while the video is being taped. You will not need a license of any kind for this.
I'm a Professional Vidoegrapher. Which license can I use?
You can use the Bride & Groom License ($5.99 per song) for a one-time use for the bride & groom's wedding video. You can replicate up to 10 copies for friends and family of the bride and groom. This license does not allow you to use it for your business after this one-time use. You MUST purchase a Professional Use License if you intend to use it more than one time.
If you want to use T Carter Music for your business on an unlimited basis for a year, you will then need to purchase the Professional Use License ($19.99 per song and includes the Mp3 download of the song you choose).
I'm a DJ. Do I need a license to play your music?
Absolutely not! You buy it, you can play it as many times as you
want...
We just ask that you not replicate or copy our songs for
multiple outfits that your DJ service may have. Example: Buying one of
our songs and copying it 10 times for each DJ in your company to use.
This would violate many copyright laws and would be subject to
prosecution.
How do I download the music I've purchased?
For the Professional Use License, you will immediately have access to your download following the completion of your order. Just click the "Download Now" prompt in your product transaction details page after checkout.
If you purchased the Bride and Groom License, you will simply use the music you have already purchased from the T Carter Music online store. Downloads are not given for this license.
How many times can I use a T Carter Music song on client videos or presentations?
If you have purchased a 1 year Professional Use License, you will be able to use it for as many client projects as you want. The Bride and Groom License is a "one wedding use" limited to 10 copies for friends and family only.
Are there limitations on this license?
Yes. But since we've written this
license with you in mind, those limitations will probably not affect
your intended use. For instance, mass distribution, broadcast, or
motion pictures are not allowed. These details are covered in the License Agreement. It's pretty straight forward.
Can I get a refund for a License purchase?
No, License Agreements are non-refundable.
What happens when my one year license expires?
We'll send you a reminder e-mail or phone call. You can either renew your license or discontinue your use of that particular song.
If I let my license expire, what do I do about the DVD's that I've given to my clients?
Nothing. They can continue to enjoy
those presentations indefinitely. But you may not make any new
presentations (unless you renew your license).
If my license is expired, do I have to take the song off my web site?
If the music provides the background
music for the website which promotes your business, this is an "ongoing
use". You will have to renew your license, or replace the song with
something you can use legally.
Do you have any music that is just instrumental?
